For the past nine years we have partnered with Pastor Joseph Kisa and Ruth Kisa, who live in Salama in the heart of Uganda, to help build a school.

Our church has assisted in building classrooms and dormitories.  The dormitories are used by the neediest of more than 200 children that attend the school.  Many of these children are orphans who must rely upon extended families to take care of them.

Our involvement with the school project began when there were a few children living and learning in wooden sheds.

It’s been a thrill to see the transformation of the school site, and in particular, the impact on all the children. It’s also been a real inspiration to see the generosity of many people giving to this project over the years.

The main project at the moment is the first of the dormitories to sleep 60 children. We need approximately £15,000 to get this first dormitory completed, which seems a tough reality in the present economic climate.

As well as an annual visit by members of the church, our Youth Team visited in July 2010 and had a great time. They came back envisioned to raise money for a new kitchen, which is badly needed, and have made this project their priority.

It is s nothing less than amazing for a small group of people here in England to have achieved so much for  a school in Africa. The staff at the school really do appreciate the hard work, prayers and generosity of the people who have supported and continue to support this work.

Members of the church will be visiting the church again this spring.
